Bringing turbines to smaller users

If Southwest Windpower has its way, owners of even the smallest parcels of land will be buying turbines.

According to an article in Fortune Small Business, the Arizona-based company is rolling out a 45-foot high model for use on home or business sites as small as a half-acre. Old-timers in the wind business will remember that earlier small-scale turbines had less-than-thrilling sales. But Southwest thinks the alternator and blade design of its Beta L8 has solved the poor performance woes of earlier models.
